Explore the native side of Sri Lanka. Learn the traditions, culture and heritage of the Native Veddas of Sri Lanka where you can see the variation of their lifestyles.

Day 01 -

Head to the vibrant city of Colombo once you arrive in Sri Lanka. Once in Colombo, you can explore the wonders of this modern city. View the breathtaking skyscrapers that tower to the sky. Come across the various colonial-style architecture like the Independence Square and the Old Parliament Building. Explore the fusion cuisine of Colombo and enjoy the nightlife of the city.

Day 02 -

Head to the lively city of Kandy, known for its prosperous culture and heritage presented by the Temple of the Tooth Relic which and the various traditional locations and buildings scattered throughout the land. Visit the Temple once you arrive in Kandy and take in the grandeur of this location. Visit the vast areas made for meditation and see the locals lighting hundreds of clay oil lamps and incense. In the evening, walk through the city and come across the divine view of traditional dances.

Day 03 -

Depart Kandy and make your way to Mahiyangana. Arrive in this culturally rich town and experience some of the wonders of authentic Sri Lanka. Engage in the clay-making process and get to know the roots of this activity. Join a village household and learn the craft of ‘Pan’ Weaving and afterwards taste a delicious Rice and Curry Lunch. Hike up the mountain and discover some hidden jewels such as the Rathna Ella and Kaluwa Wetuna Ella.

 

Day 04 -

Head to the Dambana Vedda Village where you will meet the residents of one of Sri Lanka’s Native clans. Learn about their history and significance as you take a Bush Walk in the Jungle. Listen to the wisdom and stories which they will impart and make your way to the mountains where you can see various caves. Visit the homes of the Veddas and see their structural difference, after which you can enjoy a BBQ dinner whilst enjoying the dances of the Veddas by the roaring fire.

Day 05 -

Head to Gal Oya, known for the scenic Gal Oya National Park. Explore the National Park after enjoying a picnic lunch on the grounds, surrounded by stunning scenery. Hop on the jeep to go on a jeep safari to experience the wonders of this beautiful location. See the crocodiles basking in the sun and elephants grazing near watering holes.

 

Day 06 -

Arrive at the Gal Oya Vedda Village where you will be greeted by the village chief. Take off on an expedition together as you go through the jungles of his ancestors. Learn about their tales as you go through the old hunting grounds. Listen to songs from their native tongue and be inspired by the generational knowledge and customs that have been passed through generations. Indulge in the tales of the descendants of ancient hunter-gatherer folk.

Day 07 -

In the morning, head out on a boat safari through the Senanayake Samudraya Reservoir where you can see elephants bathing in the water, or cross through the water to reach the other side.

 

Day 08 -

Before heading to Weligama, take an excursion to hike Little Adam’s Peak where you can get the most ideal view of the Ella Gap. Take in the exquisite views for some time before heading to the Nine Arches Bridge. Take in the artistic views of this bridge as trains pass leading to picturesque opportunities. Head to Weligama where you can surf and swim. Enjoy the ocean waves surrounded by golden sands and azure seas.

 

Day 09 -

If time permits, take a stroll around Weligama town before heading to the airport to depart Sri Lanka.
