Picturesque Train Adventure
The train horns will blare in commencement as you begin your journey through the scenic mountains of the hillside and go along the glistening ocean by the coast. Enjoy this alluring journey that is scenic and thrilling.
Day 01 – Arrive in Sri Lanka, a glistening island surrounded by the Indian Ocean. Make your way to Colombo, a bustling metropolis by the ocean. Here you will get in a car and take a fun and exciting journey to Kandy, a city of historic and religious significance. The most well-known site here is the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It is a sight to behold. On the way to Kandy, stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Here, you will come across the heartwarming sights of elephants being cared for. This sanctuary was made to shelter orphaned and injured elephants to sustain the Asian elephant population in Sri Lanka. Arrive in Kandy and head to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Revel in the unique architecture of this temple and walk through its grounds. Head to the neighbouring city of Peradeniya where you can enter the Botanical Gardens known for the splendid beauty it pertains to. It is filled to the brim with colourful flowers and tall trees. Head back to Kandy where you can rest and spend the night in relaxation.
Early in the morning, head to the Kandy train station where you can hop on a train heading to Nanu Oya. It is a breathtaking sight as you travel through mountains and see small tranquil cities sitting by the hillside. Enter Nuwara Eliya where you can visit the tea plantations that grow the world-class tea of Sri Lanka. Then head to Gregory Lake where you can enjoy a stunning boat ride to enjoy the scenery of Nuwara Eliya. Spend the night in your hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
Take the most scenic train ride offered in Sri Lanka as you head to Ella. Ella is a verdant city that is known for the stunning sights of nature, the Nine Arches Bridge and the zipline. Once you arrive in Ella, enjoy the vivid scenery as you head to the hotel where you will be spending the night.
On the morning of day 04, head to Little Adam’s Peak. Trek the path up the mountain to be greeted by magnificent views of the Ella Gap. The stunning spectacle of this location should not be missed. Once you’re done taking in the views, head to the Nine Arches Bridge. This is a picturesque point which is an architectural wonder. Watch as trains pass through allowing for breathtaking sights.
Bid farewell to Ella as you make your way to Yala by car. This allows you to take in the scenery of the towns you will pass by on the way. Yala is a city located somewhat close to the shore. Here lies the famous Yala National Park, known for having a variety of fascinating wildlife inhabiting the savannahs. As you head to Yala, stop by the Ravana Waterfall and take pictures to commemorate this journey. Take this amazing jeep safari through Yala which is believed to have the highest density of leopards in Sri Lanka. Have a chance to spot them lounging on tree tops or prowling across the plains.
Hop in a car and head to Mirissa. This is the prime location to go on whale-watching or dolphin-watching tours in Sri Lanka or head to Coconut Tree Hill to take stunning pictures of the local scenery.
Begin your day with an exhilarating whale-watching excursion in Mirissa. See the stunning dolphins and blue whales before taking a train to Bentota. At the Bentota Turtle Hatchery take a leisurely boat ride down the Madu River. This evening after spending the night in Bentota allow yourself to relax and enjoy the seaside city.
Head to Colombo by train. In Colombo, you can experience modernity. Take a stroll through the charming city as you go shopping and enjoy the fusion cuisine. Spend the night in Colombo at your hotel after experiencing the liveliness of the locals.
Depart Colombo and head to the airport.
